JHC Youth Programs

Starting with the 2008-09 school year, the Jazz Heritage Center will have a range of educational programs for youth, including a jazz visual art program in partnership with leading Western Addition non-profits, including the Buchanan Street YMCA, Ella Hutch Community Center and African American Arts and Culture Complex.

In addition, through a “Youth Jazz Club,” the JHC will offer local school children on-going opportunities to meet jazz greats from the Fillmore neighborhood and learn about the district’s history. In co-operation with local non-profit Our Conservatory, the JHC will offer youth access to instruments to learn to play jazz.
