Lecture and Reception for "Blues for Charles Sullivan"

Tuesday, Jan. 5th.  7pm-9pm

As part of our tribute to Charles Sullivan, the Jazz Heritage Center will host a lecture and reception with Harry Richard Hall, Sullivan's nephew.

Impresario Charles Sullivan, an early black migrant to California from Alabama in 1928, was the leading promoter of black music on the west coast, booking such legendary performers as James Brown, Bobby Bland, Jimi Hendrix and Ike and Tina Turner.

Come hear his story as his nephew, former KGO News Talk 810 producer and KCSM Jazz 91 announcer, Harry Richard Hall, talks about his forthcoming book tentatively titled, “Blues for Charles Sullivan: the father of the Fillmore Auditorium".

Lecture in the Media & Education Center with reception following in the Lush Life Gallery. Free to the public.

7pm in the Media and Education Center, 1330 Fillmore Street (Koret Heritage Lobby and right of the entrance to Yoshi's Jazz Club)
